Dessert Lab is a modern dessert and delivery destination based in Newcastle, designed around creating a bold, visually engaging customer experience through atmosphere, branding and immersive design.
Known for its modern aesthetic, luxury desserts and strong visual identity, the venue was designed to stand out from traditional dessert shops by creating an environment that felt modern, energetic and experience driven from the moment customers entered the space.
Lumacore was trusted to deliver the full electrical and LED fit out throughout the venue, helping bring the industrial inspired concept to life through intelligent lighting integration, bespoke feature lighting and architectural electrical design.
As part of the fit out, exposed cable tray systems were installed throughout the venue to complement the industrial aesthetic of the space while becoming part of the overall visual identity rather than simply a functional element.
A bespoke suspended LED lighting system was also designed and built throughout the front of the shop, creating a striking architectural feature that immediately shaped the atmosphere of the customer space while reinforcing the modern industrial aesthetic of the venue.
Different lighting environments were carefully designed depending on the purpose of each area within the space.
Within the prep and delivery areas, cool white LED lighting was installed to create a brighter, cleaner and more functional working environment for food preparation, packing orders and day to day operations.
Towards the front customer facing areas of the venue, immersive RGBW LED lighting systems were integrated throughout the ceiling architecture and feature areas to create a warmer, more atmospheric environment designed around customer experience and ambience.
Using intelligent lighting control systems, the front of house atmosphere could adapt dynamically between different colours, moods and lighting scenes throughout the day and evening while maintaining a clean premium finish throughout the space.
A bespoke neon style feature sign was also designed and installed within the venue, creating a bold visual focal point that reinforced the identity and branding of the space while enhancing the overall atmosphere of the environment.
From the full electrical infrastructure and exposed industrial detailing to immersive RGBW lighting and bespoke feature installations, every aspect of the project was designed to create a space that felt modern, visually engaging and memorable for customers entering the venue.
This project demonstrates Lumacore’s ability to combine practical commercial functionality with immersive lighting design to create environments that stand out both operationally and visually.
